Epi-edges

In order to allow a drum to have full tones and resonant, there needs to be a perfect relationship between the head and the shell.  Thin shells allow the drum to resonant, however a bad edge can kill a shell completely.  The edge is one of the most important parts of the drum and it ultimately is the deciding factor in how well your drum reacts and responds.  With countless hours of experimenting and trail and error, we at Epiarch feel we have developed a series of unique edges featured only on our drums.

We custom cut each shell with its tone specific edge. Do your 10” drums sound muffled and weak? This is not a problem when we dress the shells of all smaller sized drums (13” and up) with a hand rounded 45 edge. This edge enhances the attack and resonance of smaller drums, allowing them to really open up and sing.

You know that annoying ringy overtones your lower toms can produce? Do you use moon gel or other dampening to solve this problem? Well that problem is no longer a problem with our rounded double 45 edges on our 14, 15, 16, and 18” sized shells. By rounding the edge, this allows for more head to shell contact. With more contact, this causes a very slight natural muffle to the head. The result is no annoying overtones but rather a slappy warm round focused punch out of your floors.

And finally, the real treat to your Epiarch kit…the
kick drum. We offer customers our exclusive
Epibass kick edge. The Epibass bass drum edge
features a completely rounded over bearing edge
that provides more punch and attack, while
increasing the “boom factor”. The greater shell to
head contact gives the drum “natural dampening”
making the need for internal dampening
unnecessary. We feel this edge produces the
perfect bass drum tone. Punch, attack, and BOOM.
What more is there to life?

No matter what drum has which edge, one thing
remains the same with all edges from Epiarch; and
that is perfection. All edges are precision cut, hand
sanded and then inspected multiple times to ensure the finest edges possible.
